My body, my right?!

To all my brothers and sisters who follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the modern-day age, we have experienced a severe spiritual disconnect from our Lord Jesus in droves. We live in a culture that praises sex and its consequences. Worse, many people claim they love Jesus and declare that abortion is right because it is their body. What is so wrong with abortion? What does God actually say about this topic? Let us take a deep Biblical dive into this increasingly popular topic… Abortion!

It is written…

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:13-16

Right out the gate, we see that from God’s perspective, God has a book on every one of us before we are conceived. He said he made us on purpose and in great detail in the womb. Nothing about us is hidden from him. Nothing! God already wrote out our days. He already established every child, including those of us reading this.

Maybe you have heard this before. This Blog, however, is not your typical Blog. Let’s take a different route to understand this topic.

It is written…

The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.

John 10:10

KNOW YOUR ENEMY!

Jesus explains that giving us the ability to choose life in him is why he came. A full or complete life at that. Life bares fruit, Galatians 5:22-23. Anything outside of Christ Jesus can still bear fruit, but because it isn’t the life that flows from our Father through Jesus, Colossians 1, it is bad fruit.

Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit, you will recognize them.

Matthew 7:17-20

Bad fruit? What is bad fruit?

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. As I did before, I warn you that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:17-21

Whoa…

We just learned that a heart issue is the root of the problem. What does Jesus, our savior, say about this? Murder is not from God. In fact…

It is written…

Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Mark 7:20-23

Brothers and Sisters, remember, Jesus called out murder as evil. Even more so, it originates from the heart. How does a person even have these kinds of thoughts enter their hearts, to begin with? It is due to the sharing of life at the table of demons.

It is also written…

I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

1 Corinthians 10:15-17

Communion is much more than the watered-down ritual it has become. Communion is the sharing of the life of Christ. Paul explains that we actually share life with Jesus. In other words, we acknowledge Jesus’ death and resurrection and benefit from blessing because we choose to stay covered at The Lord’s Table.

… but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.

1 Corinthians 10:20

What does it mean to offer something to demons?

Instead of trusting God with our lives and circumstances, we suppress the knowledge of God. At this point, a person chooses to sit at the table of demons. This happens whether they acknowledge this or not. Can you see the connection? If we break bread and drink the cup to share life with Jesus at the Lord’s table, then the same is accurate at the other table. At the table of demons, they share their life and experiences at the table.

Satan is the father of lies, he lies so good he deceived angels to join him, and they were in heaven. How much more can he deceive a person who chooses to dismiss life in Christ for themselves.

Using God’s Word, we can now see that it is impossible to love God yet be ok with abortion. To even think for a second that God blessed a person who thinks abortion is right is wrong. Every single bit of God’s truth starts at a heart level.

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons, too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

1 Corinthians 10:21-22

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
    but shows favor to the humble.”

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts; you are double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

James 4:1-10

What’s the Point?

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons, too; you cannot have a part in the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

1 Corinthians 10:21-22

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, … in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:15
